The Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh created Café Terrace at Night in 1888. It was initially displayed in 1891 under the name Coffeehouse in the evening (Café, le soir) but is now more commonly referred to as The Cafe Terrace on the Place du Forum. In the middle of September 1888, Van Gogh created Café Terrace at Night in Arles, France. The artist describes and references the picture in three letters but does not sign it. The Place du Forum's northeastern corner is where visitors to the site can stand where the artist set up his easel. In 1990 and 1991, the area was renovated to look like van Gogh's artwork.
